The pet portraits that you see are not
painted. They have been made via a rare technique of hand
papermaking that Susan Olsen has been doing for 25 years.
Susan creates portraits of dogs, cats, horses and other
animals from photographs. She incorporates the animals hair
into the pulp with which she forms the image, so it is truly
a Portrait of Their Essence. Pet portraits
may be framed traditionally or by a special mounting
technique, Shibui Mounting, where a frame is not needed.
With the Shibui Mounting technique, your art will arrive "ready
to hang".
Please enjoy browsing the coming
pages by selecting from the menu above. You will see a
myriad of portraits of dogs, cats and horses as well as
pictures of portraits in process.

"I
will be happy to speak with you about doing a pet portrait
of your animal. All that I need is a photograph of your pet
and, if you wish, some of its hair! "
